Empanadas are well known in all of Latin America and Spain. Each country and even different regions within the countries have slightly different ways of making them.
The dough is usually made with corn flour or wheat flour. There are different fillings for different types of empanadas. Some typical fillings are beef, chicken, cheese and spinach but there are many different other fillings as well. Empanadas are also served as dessert or as treats and the filling would be sweet in this case.
The use of extra ingredients like olives, eggs, raisins and additional condiments is very common.
Empanadas are usually baked but they can also be fried. Fried empanadas need a puffy pastry dough.
MyEmpanadas has the most typical fillings among Latin America. However, we can make other types of fillings by request. These are special empanada orders and minimum quantities may apply. Currently, we are also offering two different types of gluten free empanadas, beef and spinach and minimum quantities may apply to these as well.
